New location, new look, same great fun

New location, new look, same great fun

Hello Manhattan Kayakers, Paddle Boarders and esteemed visitors!

New Location

Manhattan Kayak Company (MKC) is in the final process of securing a new location at the PIER 84 Boathouse near 44th Street on the Hudson River. This boathouse is located directly opposite the big conning tower of the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier.

We’ll be all moved in and ready for action by Memorial Day, though ideally we’ll be ready much sooner.  We’ll post updates on our blog, our Facebook page, and our email newsletter. If you just can’t wait, just drop us an email at [email protected].

We will continue to offer limited kayak and paddle board storage at our new location.  If you have a boat or board with us and would like to keep it in storage at our new place, get in touch with us to let us know. Rates will go up a bit, but we will try to keep it affordable.

New Look

All good things come to an end. So too, has our Manhattan Kayak Company logo. Rest in peace.  However, to replace it, we’ve created a newer, better, faster, and sleeker MKC brand.  You’ve probably noticed the new logo up top, our new colors, and our new name: MKC. A new look might mean new corporate folks.  Not this time. The ownership, management and field staff remain essentially the same, with at least one more excellent addition to the SUP team. His name is Bill Elkins and will be joining MKC after many successful seasons with the Lazy Dog paddling outfit in Key West Florida. Bill brings a top notch coaching and training acumen with a long history in teaching triathletes.

Same Great Fun

MKC will be adding embayment Rentals , further developing our SUP Yoga, SUP race training and Kayaking Skill Build programs while maintaining a strong touring schedule to all the classic favorite destinations like the Statue of Liberty, SushiTour, Red Hook, GWB, and the Manhattan Circumnavigation.

MKC will be offering PADDLE PASSES as replacement for our “Credit Packages” and will be making a pre season discount offer soon.

We will be assigning Level 1 (L1), Level 2 (L2) and Level 3 (L3) ratings to our various course/tour offerings to help you navigate where you fit based on your skill and paddling experience levels. Bottom line, if you are a rank beginner or have paddled without any formal instruction stay with Level 1 offerings. These will be more fun for you.

If you have paddled casually before and want to jumpstart a season or seasons of great paddling adventures up, down and around the mighty Hudson River go for our Kayak Foundations or SUP Foundations Classes.

If you are an experienced kayaker or paddle boarder but have not paddled in the Hudson before please send us an email describing your experience ( vessel types, locations, conditions) so we can guide you to the best offering on our schedule.

Our beginning Level 1 Guided Kayak Tours and our Closed Deck Level 2 North/South Tours will be offered at variable times to take advantage of amicable currents. We will be offering a consistent Twilight SUP NYC offering to enjoy paddle boarding at that very special time of day.

The complete schedule and updated pricing will be available online by May 1.

Thank you for your continued patronage and patience. We will all be back on the water soon!
