About

Spend 6 days exploring isolated islands and the pristine coastline of Baja Sur with MKC folks. Sea kayak, snorkel, hike and get intimate with whales. Your guides are experienced, connected locals and the trip is supported with a 26′ support boat which allows us the freedom to zip out to distant whales, paddle lightly loaded boats, and carry food, ice and gear to camp. Stay at beautiful, remote, exclusive campsites and eat delicious food.

Expect 3-4 hours of kayaking per day. If anyone wants to bring a friend that is not experienced, you can use a fiberglass tandem kayak. Experienced paddlers can use single or double sea kayaks, either fiberglass or plastic. The support boat can assist with tired newbies but otherwise does not follow along with the group as we go kayaking. The skiff will move forward each day to begin to establish our next stunning camp.

Soufriere, Dominica

Prerequisite

MKC paddlers at an Intermediate to Expert level in sea kayaking

About

This is a private winter trip for MKC paddlers to the Caribbean. Meet up with Michael Gray, your expert sea kayak guide, to paddle some distance, play in surf and snorkel. With 5,000-foot mountains, waterfalls, rivers, clear water, jungle excursions, direct flights from Miami, English-speaking natives, and a water trail… you have a winner!

Unlike other destinations in the West Indies, Dominica is not home to all-inclusive resorts and beach goers. It’s a natural paradise of mountains, tropical forest, waterfalls, rivers and NATURE, a resource they protect and show off.

A crew of ambitious locals got together with Nigel Dennis to bring in a superb fleet of NDK sea kayaks to access the new national water trail on the western coastline, with stops at guesthouses along the way. Experience hiking, sea and river paddling, surfing, diving, snorkeling, local tropical cuisine, three national parks and historical sites. Did we mention sleeping in guesthouses with cold drinks in the evening? Not a camping trip or a teaching trip, this is a vacation-like trip!

NOTE: We already met the minimum number of participants so the trip is definitely running.
