Learn to Kayak–NYC’s Ultimate Outdoor Fitness Class
Develop technique, strength, and confidence on NYC’s most dynamic outdoor playground. Expert instructors teach you essential techniques: outfitting, maneuvering, self-rescue, and navigation. Classes use sea kayaks and go in order: 1 → 2 → 3. Start with Class 1, even if you’ve paddled before. We teach according to American Canoe Association standards and add NYC-specific information. After finishing Kayak 3, you qualify for Intermediate Tours, which are amazing group paddling adventures on NYC waters.

Sea Kayaking Class Breakdown
Kayak 1: Learn to outfit yourself in a sea kayak. Discover essential sea kayaking strokes. 2.5 hours.
Kayak 2: Refine your steering and edging. Learn crucial self-rescue techniques. 2.5 hours.
Kayak 3: Learn about water safety. Paddle out to scenic lively waters. 2.5 hours.
