Reservations aren’t required, but highly recommended, especially on warm, sunny days. We limit the number of rentals per hour to prevent overcrowding, so we often sell out in advance. If you show up without a reservation on a busy day, there’s a chance we’ll be fully booked.

No, we cannot rent out kayaks or boards for unsupervised use in the open Hudson River. Unlike the calm cove, this waterway has strong tides, big boat traffic, and weather that makes it unsafe for most people to navigate alone.
However, you can explore the river safely with our guided tours, led by guides who know how to keep you safe.
If you own your own kayak or SUP, Pier 84 Boathouse has a public launch, and launching requires prior approval and a safety check with us. To inquire about launching your own boat, contact us.

If the weather turns bad, we’ve got you covered. If storms, heavy rain, or high winds are expected, we’ll email you at least two hours before your activity to cancel. If we cancel, or if you arrive and don’t feel comfortable, you can choose to rebook or get a refund.
